WHAT WE DO

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The mental health and wellness benefits of skateboarding are undisputed. Although the act of skateboarding is between the person and the board, there is a global community of support. In 2020 Super Skate Posse was born with the primary goal of bringing these benefits to youth in underserved communities by providing the very basics for participation: a board, skate shoes and a helmet. Although these are the basics, acquiring them is cost prohibitive and can run at minimum $300 for entry into the community.

Through our work, we are providing a new outlet and global community to a new group of participants at no cost to them.

Super Skate Posse is a 501c3 Organization.

PROGRAM SIZE

While we have built our program to be scaleable, our goal is to equip at least 100 youth at each of our events nationwide. Our goal is 12 events per year, but currently are hosting 4-6 events per year with anywhere from 25 - 100 youth participants per stop.

DEMOGRAPHICS

Program participants range in age from 5 to 16, but majority of participants are ~9 years old to ~16 years old, all genders and ethnic origins served

COMMUNITY IMPACT

TARGET: 12,000 youth by 2032
2020: 100 youth (Watts, CA)
2021: 200 youth (Oakland, Honolulu, Jersey City)
2022: Targeting ~500 youth (Nashville, Kansas City, San Pedro, Tupelo, Honolulu)
2023: Targeting 700 youth (locations TBD)

PARTNERSHIP APPROACH

We always start with the endemic skate community. We partner with global endemic skate brands, local skate shops, local skate schools and local youth-focused non-profits to build each porgram. This allows Super Skate Posse to connect program participants to the local skate scene so they have a resource once the event is over. We want the participants to be able to continue their skateboarding journey long after our departure.

Our nation-wide events series will be promoted locally and nationally on social, promo collateral, printed zines and in a documentary film to be directed by Emmy award-winning filmmakers along with SSP directors Atiba Jefferson, Adaku Ibekwe and Chris Nieratko.

The feature film will tell the story of modern America through the young people involved in our programs.

We also want to explore creative partnerships with our sponsors that can result in tangible results and collateral that they can own. There are so many amazing stories for us to tell.

We offer our sponsors:

  • Integration and inclusion in all SSP tour video content, clothing collaborations, murals, product placement, zines, photography exhibitions. Product placement and logos welcomed

  • Creative input and involvement and inclusion in the event recap videos we make for each event, which will be uploaded to YouTube and embedded on the Thrasher Magazine site. Sponsor can also embed on its owned & operated channels.

  • Social assets for the recap video and a folder of images for social use, shot by Atiba Jefferson and other luminary photographers

  • Signed and numbered photo ‘zines from the event

  • Event T-shirt for the kids, volunteers and the sponsor with sponsors logo

  • Social tagging from both the Super Skate Posse and attending Skate Pros

  • Skate demonstrations, employee activations or SSP founder speaking engagements on sponsors behalf
